History
What is history?
What
is History? The aggregate of past
events. Simply put history is the story of mankind,
of his accomplishments and struggles, merged in the study of past events.
History is the study of past events particularly in human affairs that is
preserved or remembered of the past especially in written form: the whole
series of a continuous systematic narrative of past events in relation to a
particular person, family, people, country and/or period in regard to someone
or something.
History is usually a chronological record of events, as of the life or
development of a people, institution, nation, civilization, and/or race, often
including an explanation of or commentary on those events. It is formally the branch of knowledge that
records and analyzes past events; moreover, it is the discipline of recording
and interpreting past events involving human beings.
Further it comprises past events relating to a particular thing, the
aggregate of past events and/or human affairs, an interesting past, and
something that belongs to the past.
Furthermore, history consists of the acts, ideas, and/or events that
will and can shape the course of the future.
The word history derives from the Middle-English word ‘histoire’, from
Old-French, from the Latin word ‘historia’, from the Greek word
‘στορία’ or ‘historia’, meaning ‘inquiry,
knowledge acquired by investigation”, from ‘histor’, meaning ‘learned man’.
In this book, the reader will explore history as it applies to the world
and my family/ancestors, which is broken out in three sections: Modern Time,
Medieval Times and Ancient Times. Also,
there is a brief overview of the history of Brea—my hometown!
